The cottage is located between Spindleruv Mlyn and the old medieval mining town Vrchlabi. The closest alpine ski-resort is app. 1 km. from the house and Spindleruv Mlyn is app. 8 km. from the house. Cross-country skiing routes runs behind the house. Those routes are alså excellent mountain-bike routes in the summer. Spindleruv Mlyn is the largest and one of the best locations for winter sports in Czech republic.
The river “Elbe” runs just below and beneath the cottage. It springs just 10 km. up North. In fact, you´ll have to cross a bridge over the Elbe (“Labe” in Czech language) in order to come to the house, but it is a bit smaller than the bridge at Hamburg! The house is situated on a 8000 sqm. large meadow at the hillside above the river. The house is situated in the “Giant mointains” / Krkonose which is Czech national park and area of protection of the national environment.
The meadow and the woods around the house are perfect for outdoor activities. During the years we have made marked paths in the woods that are fun to find, and the flora and fauna is unique. The meadow is perfect for sledging during the wintertime. This year we are looking forward to try out “Mrs. Nielsens toboggan run” where you should be able to sledge almost right down to the Elbe from the house. The toboggan run was made during our summerholiday, so we are looking forward to try it when the snow has fallen.
